Data and assumptions
Almost every number on this site comes from Activision's own Modern Warfare 4 posts. Four things come from community sites instead, and all four are labelled that way wherever they appear: a list of attachment names with pictures, type labels and short notes, weapon stats with the changes attachments make to them, the popular builds with their pick rates, and the community tier lists. This page lists the sources, separates published values from calculated ones, shows where pages disagree and says what stays unknown.

Published values and calculated values
| Figure | Status | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Fire rate, magazine, reserve, weapon levels | Published | Activision launch weapon sheets, one per weapon. |
| Unlock level | Published | Activision unlock tables, cross-checked against the multiplayer progression table. |
| Attachment types per weapon | Published | The Attachment Types line of each weapon sheet. |
| Apex Attachment and blocked types | Published | The Apex text on each weapon sheet. The description is rewritten for this site. |
| Gunsmith limit of 5 attachments plus one Apex | Published | Activision DMZ deep dive; the launch post shows a five-attachment build. |
| Attachment names, slots, type labels and the weapons they were listed for | Community-reported | Community sites, listed below. Not an Activision statement; unverified. |
| Weapon stats and attachment changes (movement, handling, recoil, bullets, ammo) | Community-reported | CODMunity's game data, listed below. Not an Activision statement; unverified. Fire rate, magazine and total rounds start from Activision's numbers. |
| Weapon level at which an attachment was reported | Community-reported | DMZ Codex only, where it states a level (from an official DMZ progression preview or recorded DMZ gameplay). ggranked and CODMunity disagree by one level on the same attachment, so their levels are not used. |
| Tier placements | Community-reported | The community tier lists below. Opinion rather than measurement, and no tier is derived from Activision's numbers. |
| Builds, build codes and weapon pick rates | Community-reported | The popular builds source below. A pick rate is that site's own measure and a tier on a build is its own label. Neither is an Activision statement, and builds change with patches. |
| Shots per second, time between shots, first-to-last shot time, total rounds | Derived | Arithmetic on fire rate, magazine and reserve. Reloads, recoil and burst or pump cycling are ignored. |
| Rank and bar position | Derived | Position of a published value among weapons of the same class, or the same slot group in the builder. |
| Player Level a class needs | Derived | The highest unlock level among the chosen items. |
Where Activision's pages disagree
6 weapon sheets print an unlock level that differs from Activision's unlock tables. The unlock tables and the progression table agree with each other, so the site uses them.
| Weapon | Unlock tables (used) | Weapon sheet |
|---|---|---|
| VEL 46 | 5 | 13 |
| Wz.55 Striga | 18 | 21 |
| PPSh-41 | 30 | 27 |
| X-58 Nyx | 46 | 34 |
| Astaroth .57 | 25 | 10 |
| Signal 50 | 50 | 35 |
- The progression table prints Level 31 twice. The second row holds the Warlord and the Tracker perk, which the weapons post places at Level 32. The site uses 32.
- The Krait P68 sheet gives its fire rate as "260 BPM". The site treats it as 260 RPM.
- Three Apex Attachment names changed between Activision's August 21 multiplayer post and launch: ISO Trace was called “Hunter”, X-58 Void was “Shroud” and Mojave Lawless was “Outlaw”. The site uses the launch names.
Why damage and the Gunsmith bars are not listed
Activision has published which attachment types each weapon accepts, the 28 Apex Attachments and the rule of 5 attachments plus one Apex. It has not published the names or effects of the more than 500 standard attachments, and it has not published damage, time to kill or the numbers behind the in-game Gunsmith bars.
Community sites do list damage and bar values, but they disagree: two of them give the Han 86 a damage bar of 27 and 33. Damage, time to kill and the bars are therefore left out. What the site does show is one community source's movement, handling, recoil, bullet and ammo values and the changes attachments make to them, in their own section below, marked community-reported and kept apart from Activision's numbers.
If Activision publishes these values, they will be added with a source and a date.
Community-reported attachments
Activision has not published its standard attachment list and says there are more than 500. The attachment names, slots, type labels and pictures on this site come from community sites. The list has 615 attachments across 28 weapons. No Activision list exists to check it against, so every entry is unverified.

| DMZ Codex | DMZ attachment pages (35 standard attachments, launch period) | |
| DMZ Radar | DMZ meta builds listed on 21 October 2026 | |
| wzranked | Open Beta builds last updated 24 August 2026 | |
| ggranked | Attachment lists on the 28 weapon pages that take attachments: names, slots and type labels, launch period | |
| CODMunity | Attachment lists on the same 28 weapon pages: names and slots, used to confirm ggranked and to add the names it lacks |
- Every entry is labelled community-reported. None of it is an Activision statement, and sources can be wrong or out of date.
- ggranked and CODMunity were read on October 28, 2026 from the weapon pages of the 28 weapons that take attachments. 597 of the 615 entries are listed by both. 18 are listed by one source only (14 by ggranked, 4 by CODMunity) and carry the note “Listed by one source only.”
- The attachment list itself carries no numbers, no percentages and none of the sources' long descriptions. The changes an attachment makes to a weapon's stats are kept in a separate file and described in the next section. 499 entries carry the short type label the sources use, such as “Reflex” or “Long Barrel”, and 12 older DMZ Codex and DMZ Radar entries carry short pros and cons.
- A weapon level is shown for 8 entries and is kept only from DMZ Codex, because ggranked and CODMunity disagree by one level on the same attachment. Open Beta levels from wzranked are left out too, because weapon level totals changed between the Beta and launch: Activision's Beta weapons guide gives the Han 86 68 levels and the launch sheet gives it 72.
- The weapons listed for an attachment are the weapons the sources list it for. They are not an Activision compatibility list.
- The build step checks every entry against Activision's weapon sheets: an attachment can only be listed on a weapon that has a slot of its type. Entries the sheets rule out were dropped: 3 combs listed for the Cronen Squall, and 5 ammunition types listed for the PPSh-41, whose sheet gives no ammunition slot (it has Fire Mods instead).
- Open Beta names that no launch source lists were removed, because names can change between the Beta and launch, as three Apex Attachment names did.
- 611 entries show a picture: a render of Activision's in-game model hosted by ggranked, credited on the credits page.
The same list is available as JSON (updated October 28, 2026). In the class builder you can also type any attachment name for each type you pick; names you type are kept in the class link and nowhere else.
Weapon stats and attachment changes
Movement, handling, recoil, bullet and ammo values for every weapon, and what each attachment changes on a weapon, come from CODMunity's game data. They sit on the weapon pages in their own section and in the class builder. Activision has not published any of it, so every value is community-reported and unverified.
| Source | What was read | Retrieved |
|---|---|---|
| CODMunity | Base stats of every weapon from its MW4 Stats Comparator, and each attachment's change to them on each weapon from the weapon pages |
- Base values are listed for 33 of 33 weapons, 30 stats each at most, in 6 groups. 12 headline stats (movement, ADS movement, sprint, ADS speed, sprint to fire, reload, recoil, bullet velocity, damage range, fire rate, magazine) are the ones the attachment lists print first, up to four per attachment; the JSON has every stat.
- The source lists a stat change for 972 of the 1589 attachment-on-weapon pairs on this site. For the other 617 it lists none, and the pages say “No stat change reported”. That means the source gives no change, not that the attachment has no effect.
- 19 of the 28 Apex Attachments have a stat change listed.
- A change is a multiplier on the weapon's base value, shown as a percentage of the value. When several attachments are equipped their multipliers are multiplied together. That is the source's rule, and Activision has not confirmed it. A percent change on a time such as ADS speed in milliseconds is a change in that time, so “+13%” on ADS speed is slower; every change is printed with the word better or worse, and the sign alone is never the signal.
- Fire rate, magazine size and total rounds start from Activision's published numbers, not the source's. The source's own total-rounds figure equals Activision's magazine plus reserve for 32 of 32 weapons that have both.
- Damage, time to kill and the in-game Gunsmith bars are not included. The values are launch data and change with patches.
- The build step checks the file against Activision's weapon sheets and the attachment list: an unknown weapon, stat or attachment, or a change for an attachment the weapon was not listed with, stops the build.
The same data is available as JSON (read October 28, 2026), with every multiplier per weapon and attachment.
Community tier lists
Damage and time to kill are not published, so no tier list can be worked out from the official numbers. The tier list page shows the lists two community sites publish instead: 67 placements covering 28 weapons, each list with its own method, its own date and its own metric where it has one.
| Source | What it ranks | Method | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| ggranked | Multiplayer weapon tier list, launch 2026, last updated 24 October 2026 | Total TTK at 10-25 m: time to kill with one missed shot, plus ADS and sprint to fire. Each entry carries that figure in milliseconds. | |
| DMZ Radar | DMZ PvP tier list, the first list made for DMZ (21 October 2026) | DMZ PvP tiers from the first list made for DMZ, checked against the Multiplayer lists of 20 October. The reasons on that list use Beta numbers. |
- Every placement is community opinion, not measurement, and it can change with any patch. None of it is an Activision statement.
- The millisecond figure on the Multiplayer list is that site's own calculation of time to kill. It is printed next to the site's name, and it is not a published value.
- Nothing from these lists is mixed into the official tables, and no number on a weapon page comes from them. The weapon pages print the community tier on its own line, labelled.
- The two lists disagree with each other: 22 weapons sit at least one tier apart. Both are shown, in the order each site published them.
- Launchers and the melee weapon are ranked by neither list.
The same data is available as JSON (read October 24, 2026).
Popular builds
The popular builds page lists 121 builds (80 Multiplayer, 41 DMZ) that community sites list for 28 weapons, ordered by how often each weapon is picked in Multiplayer. Every build is community-reported and unverified, and builds change with every patch.
| Source | What was read | Retrieved |
|---|---|---|
| CODMunity | Builds listed on the 28 weapon pages for Multiplayer and DMZ, their tier on the Multiplayer meta page, and each weapon's Multiplayer pick rate |
- A pick rate is CODMunity's own share of Multiplayer picks for a weapon. It is printed with the site's name and is not an Activision figure. DMZ has no pick rate, so the DMZ weapons follow the DMZ Radar tier.
- The tier on a Multiplayer build (absolute meta, meta, contender, very good, viable) is the label CODMunity gives it. It is opinion, not a measurement.
- Every attachment in a build is a community-reported attachment on this site, for that weapon and slot. The build step stops if a build names one that is not, uses a slot the weapon does not have, goes over the Gunsmith limit or uses an Apex Attachment that blocks one of its slots. 5 builds list an attachment that Activision's weapon sheet gives that weapon no slot for (a comb on the Cronen Squall, an ammunition type on the PPSh-41). That attachment is left out and the build says so.
- The source's own loadout ratings are not used, and neither are the builds that individual creators submit to ggranked. What a build changes comes from the weapon stats above, worked out from its attachments.
- The source writes the Axion's Apex Attachment as "Axion Reaver", where Activision's launch post says "Axion Clearcut". The site keeps Activision's name.
The same data is available as JSON (read October 28, 2026).
What stays unknown
- Damage and time to kill for every weapon, and the numbers behind the in-game Gunsmith bars. Movement, handling and recoil values are community-reported, not published by Activision.
- Activision's own list of the more than 500 standard attachments and their effects. 615 names are community-reported and unverified, and which attachments fit together is unknown. The source lists a stat change for 972 of the 1589 attachment-on-weapon pairs; for the rest the effect is unknown.
- Numeric effects of Apex Attachments, except where the official text states one, such as the Astaroth .57 Infiltrator reducing magazine capacity to 1.
- How many killstreaks a class holds. Killstreaks are listed but not part of the builder.
- Equipment slot counts. Activision lists the tacticals, lethals and field upgrades but does not state how many a class holds. The builder takes one of each, as in earlier Modern Warfare games.
How the data is produced
The Activision values are read from the posts above and kept in one file, data/mw4.json. Descriptions are written for this site instead of being copied. The build step checks the file: a roster count that differs from Activision's (33 weapons, 28 Apex Attachments, 18 perks), an unknown attachment type, an Apex that blocks a type its weapon does not accept or an unlock level outside 1 to 55 stops the build. The community list lives in data/mw4-community-attachments.json, the weapon stats in data/mw4-community-stats.json, the tier lists in data/mw4-community-tiers.json and the popular builds in data/mw4-community-builds.json; all four are checked against the first file on every build, and the builds against the attachment list too, so a name or a tier for a weapon that does not exist, an attachment on a slot the weapon does not accept, a build attachment nobody reported, or a source that is not listed stops the build.
